Ben is a London-based writer who uses food as a way to examine how we live.

He currently works as a Senior Editor at CNN, and has contributed to Monocle, Euronews and Table Magazine. Drawn to the tension between the universality of eating and the individuality it exposes in people, Ben has created An Alphabet for (Modern) Gourmets, a Substack that reimagines M.F.K. Fisher’s seminal 1949 essay series for a contemporary audience. Over the past two years, the project has grown to a readership of more than 4,000 subscribers.

Ben writes features, essays, criticism and memoir, and is always on the hunt for opportunities to bring a wry, witty and observant lens to food, not as a siloed genre, but as a language that helps us understand ourselves.
